SMC believes social movement activists should have access to high quality, professional coaching and leadership development.

Studies show that coaching helps people to feel more confident, improve their communication skills, think strategically and show more care to themselves and others.

While CEOs of the world’s biggest polluters have access to coaching, most social movement leaders do not.

We exist to change this.

Our mission

We take the proven method of coaching and put it in the hands of the people leading the charge for climate and social justice.

2. What do you mean by “climate justice”?

SMC defines climate justice as a response to the climate and ecological emergency that challenges power and advances equality and liberation. Climate justice seeks to address inequities by ensuring that climate policies and actions prioritize the needs of those most affected, while also holding accountable those who are most responsible for environmental degradation, such as large corporations and industrialized nations. At its core, climate justice connects the environmental crisis with broader issues of human rights, social justice, and equality, advocating for a transition to a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient world.

3. What do you mean by “social justice”?

For SMC, social justice is the pursuit of a society where all people and groups can thrive. It focuses on identifying and dismantling systemic inequalities and injustices related to race, gender, class, sexuality, ability, and other factors. Social justice advocates for creating inclusive systems that ensure everyone can fully participate, recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of each person. It involves both addressing the unequal distribution of resources and fostering environments where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.
